WYG photos of our participation in The 1951 Wimborne Pageant.

THIS IS A BIG FILE, BECAUSE OF THE PHOTOS, AND WILL TAKE TIME TO DOWNLOAD.

An extract from the Photographic and Film Society notes in the club magazine "Roundabout" dated June 1951...
Cutting re pageant photos
Here are the WYG team taken by Alan during a break in rehearsals.
Group of Pageant actors
PH 50
Here are the names - taken from the programme. All we have to do is put faces to those names.

D. E. Treharne, J. Bennett, R. E. Curtis, R. Small, W. D. Flory, P. Coole, N. G. Trinkle, Mrs. P. Mantle, Miss M. Gough and Miss M. Hoare,
A reminder that this was a joint venture between WYG and the Wimborne Drama Club. Hence the non-Group members in this photo as well.

Alan, Richard and I have come up with the following...

From the left:- Mr Flory (With scroll), Margaret Hoare, Norman Trinkle, Dougie Treharne (King Henry with tabard) Pete Coole tallest in back row. Mrs Mantle, Megan Gough, J. Bennett, Richard (moustache) and Ronnie Small (West Street furniture shop/undertaker and RAFA member)

And here they are in action. Another photo taken by Alan, presumably skulking in the bushes at the side of the arena.
The Pageant in progress
[PH 51]

Yes that's our men alright, centre stage (minus the King), but is it our ladies in the foreground? Methinks not. But if it's not, then who are they?

Alan the quality of these photos is superb.

I can remember that those trees were brought in and "planted" in a semi circle to make the acting area.
