"ROUNDABOUT" The club magazine

Remember the club magazine which was eventually called "Roundabout"? This is the complete set. I have been lent several copies by Dave (Ellis) and also several have arrived from Gabby's wife Beryl. (Which I am calling "The Gabby Archive") and some also from Richard and Gerry.

Most of these are hard to read. Old age has set in like the rest of us. So I had to re-type the material. Letters or words I couldn't I have put in a question mark (Technical bit.. I tried an OCR program and it was so miffed it asked me to check what language it was attempting to recognise?)

What a wonderful social archive of the early '50s these magazines are?. Its all there. The music we liked, the dance tunes, outings, hobbies, National Service, London Shows, the books we read, the films we saw.

In May 2004 Richard spent a couple of days here with Angela and myself. He brought with him his precious copies of all the missing Roundabouts and we spent a happy several hours scanning them into my computer. So, at last, we now have the full set. Thanks Rich. Look out for the NEW sign on the list below.

By the way, any writing in italics is me (Willy) making present day observations, and is not part of the transcript from the magazines.

Regards, Willy

Technical note. Although many of these pages are direct copies (i.e. graphics) I have not bothered to give each an alt.tag
These magazines were also sent out to members of the public and local "Worthies" so the information contained in them was public knowledge. Consequently I am assuming no-one has any objections to these items being republished on this site. Please contact me straight away of there is anything here which you think should not be publicised.
