Contributed by Richard (Curtis)
This original page is very hard to read so I have retyped it. (Willy)
The RAFA Carnival.
The report of the Secretary Miss Ann Dufall was read in her absence by the Chairman., and is stated that membership had been unstable during the year due to the unsettling clubroom changes but was now steadily on the increase. Regular members now numbering at.. (Hard to make up out but I think “35”) A precautionary statement was made that the average age was too high and to give the group a steady future it was imperative that younger members should be recruited and that programmes should be planned with that in mind.
The Committee for 1956 was then elected it being: -
Chairman (Temporary until September): Michael Foote
Vice Chairman: Clive Dennett.
Secretary: Miss Ann Dufall.
Treasurer: Gerald Chapple.
Co-Opt members: -
Miss Gillian Yard: Confidential Reports
Miss Pamela Smith: Activities Secretary
Patrick Keeping: Press representative.
Miss Angela Millard: Refreshment organiser.

A lively “Any other Business” followed with a discussion on a clubroom of our own, a playing fee for table tennis, exchange holidays scheme, wider sports facilities, membership and financial objects employed by other Youth organisations in other parts of the Country. Fuller details of A.O.B. reported elsewhere.

LIBRARY
After discussions at the A.G.M. , the library is to come out of storage. At the meeting Albert White and Brian Riggs volunteered to act as librarians. They will arrange times when the books may be booked out and returned. The group will be grateful for additions to its shelves.

MEMBERSHIP RECRUITING
After the Committee Meeting on the 2 Feb, (might be 4 Feb.), the Chairman told Roundabout that the Committee were to try a recruiting scheme but the details would remain secret until the Committee’s success with the idea could be judged. The aim is to enrol members in the 14 – 17 age group to stabilize the Group’s future.

PANTOMIME PARTY
A boisterous coach load of 30 members went to the Westover Ice Rink……(And we’ll never know what happens, as the page runs out of paper at this point!)
