Spot The Error June 1951

I think we had two or three of these. It involved persuading shop keepers to put an item in their window which they did not usually sell (Say a ball of string in a cake shop) . The window was numbered and we would end up with perhaps twenty shops taking part. The public then bought an entry form and filled in the wrong item at each numbered window,

Richard remembers selling competition cards door to door.

It was a good competition in many ways. It got people studying the local shop window displays with more concentration and it brought WYG to the fore... yet again, as we had to visit each shop and persuade them to become involved. Yes WYG was ground breaking in so many ways.

And of course we had to prepare and Roneo off the forms too, up the Stores, and dish them out to the vendors.

I suspect this form (which comes from the Gabby Archive) had been posted in the box, but the person had forgotten to fill in their name and adddress.
